The little American smiled and waved to the man across the field who wore a green jacket, hat, and wore dark brown boots. "America!! D-Don't do that! You'll grab his attention!" England hissed in his son’s ear while keeping his eyes on the German who stared at him back with an icy blue gaze. "B-But its Christmas time~ shouldn’t we be giving everybody happiness?" young America asked but his mouth was quickly covered up by England's hand. "Shhh~ he's not a friend. you have to be careful around him." His voice was really quiet. "B-But---" America's muffled voice could barely be heard. "You'll learn soon in time" His father told him as they hid in the fox hole were the two stayed for most of the war.

England turned off the radio annoyed by the news about the war he was in on with Germany. Angrily he got up and went to the sink to do the dishes to think about what has happened. America watched his father scrub the dishes fiercely confused on why his father acted like this every time the news was on. Getting up from the couch he walked to the table and stood on a chair to reach for the comic’s page before running to his room. Another page of the newspaper fell to the ground. The boy took it and read the headlines: ENGLAND'S LONG FIGHT WITH GERMANY: WILL THIS WAR EVER END? Staring at the long article America slowly stood up and walked down the stairs newspaper flowing behind him as he hung onto it tightly. England was drying the dishes and putting them away until he suddenly he felt the fabric of his shirt get tugged downward. "D-Daddy?" He turned around seeing the wonder in his young son’s eyes. "Yes love?" The American blinked innocently before asking; "What’s war?" England almost dropped the plate he was drying. He knew sooner or later he would have to explain it but he didn't think it would be this early in his life. "Y-You see..." He smiled and picked the boy up and the two went to the couch. "You see America; War... is .... ----"

The rain pounded onto the ground as America panted trying to catch his breath. Across the field England was doing the same thing. "You know what old man? I understand what war is now but I never thought I would learn it this way by fighting you for my independence." He raised his gun but couldn't shoot. England's eyes became dull as he slowly walked over to his colony clutching his gun tightly. "You know I don't want out hurt you," the Britt said and put his gun up. "But I know you’re not a kid anymore." He hit his gun with America's making a scratch on the stock and made it go flying away. "all I want is my independence. "America said one last time as he closed his eyes waiting for his father to stab him. A splash of water could be heard followed by a louder splash. America looked at the scene before him. England's gun laid a few feet away from where the two were and his father was on his knees, hand to his face, and shaking uncontrollably. "I can't allow it." He said with much pain in his voice but he knew he had lost the war. Feeling taken over by the pain he blacked out and landed face down in the wet mud.

America listened to his boss as he thought about his past. When he was in the battle field with England in the fox hole, when England told him about what war was about, and fighting in it to gain is independence. He glanced out the window of the white house and wished he never learned about it. It seems that’s all he was in now days; war. He didn't like it, he wanted out but it seemed it was never an option.
i wanna draw this into a drawring
anyways i got this idea from a song where the lyrics say:
'from a distance you look like my friend even though we are at war
from a distance i just cannot comprehend what all this fighting's for'
... or somethin' like it
